Learn how removing alcohol unlocked better sleep, sharper focus, and sustainable energy—transforming performance without relying on willpower or recovery frameworks.
“You can’t imagine another self when the part of you that does the imagining is offline.” That really struck me. I can’t even imagine a part of my brain being “offline”. The sections on belonging and becoming were big for me. How you had to learn to become a new person…so different than who you were before. Bravo!
I really enjoyed putting this essay together. It gets a bit more challenging telling the same story from different angles, but it's great because I'm exploring different perspectives. A part of my sobriety path is from science based as that is what I learned from Annie Grace. She did a beautiful job explaining how and what alcohol does to you in Control Alcohol. I feel like we can either wake up trapped in the same cycle of life, or we can be free to explore what each new day has to offer and that has to come with being open to change. Thank you Florence!
Thank you for your insightful and thoughtful reply. You can tell the enjoyment you received from putting this together and telling it yet from a different perspective. Great read. Great work. I’m cheering you on!
Aw thanks Jessica so much! The awareness came in stages for sure. And it can come quickly!! Whenever I was working out with my personal trainer, he would give me a new exercise. Demonstrate it. My first set was sloppy. Falling over. Second one was better. Third one I was nailing it. How quickly you learn, adapt, become aware of how to do it is incredible.

Thank you so much!! Based off my 10 part series and this essay, the more I'm curious about the science aspects the more it becomes a no brainer.
