This is great Josh! Anxiety is absolutely normal. And often is a great messenger that we have needs that we need to meet, perhaps comfort and self-compassion, perhaps we need to remind ourselves that we are safe, right now, in this moment. Your meditation practice sounds incredibly helpful for that.

Thank you so much Ellie for sharing and adding more to what can help. Self-compassion is such a strong practice because we bring the heaviest judgements to ourselves—yet it’s a practice that seems challenging to maintain similar to other habits. How do you practice self-compassion?

Self-compassion is definitely a practice, and it took me a long time to learn (and I still forget sometimes!) But what I found really useful was Tara Brach's podcast and her meditation the RAIN of self compassion. And also Kristen Neff's free practices - I did her 5 minute self compassion break so many times in early sobriety. https://self-compassion.org/self-compassion-practices/

Kristen Neff’s book was so good. It’s one of those where I’m sure you can read it over and over again gain new insights each time. Thank you for these references and links Ellie!
