🎙️Clear Conversations: Creative Minds in Sobriety
Episode 019 - Permission to Start: David Speed’s Path from ‘Not Gifted’ to International Artist
What happens when you stop waiting for permission to become who you already are? David Speed’s conversation reveals a truth that challenges everything we’ve been told about creative breakthroughs: sometimes the most profound transformations happen not through dramatic moments, but through quiet, intentional choices that align your daily actions with your deepest v…
David Speed’s advice was inspirational for me this morning:
I’m really grateful for the time and opportunity to speak with David. Our journeys are so interconnected, yet so different. The relationships we have with drinking vary and how we overcome them. David didn’t hit rock bottom, he just made a conscious choice alcohol wasn’t serving him. I hope one day I’m visiting the UK and get to see his work in person. As Zoe Parker Illustration states: it glows. 🤩
Episode 20 is happening on October 2 at 11a EST.
Join us for an inspiring conversation with Stephanie Raffelock, seventy-something author and creator of Creative Eldering, who’s redefining what it means to age with dignity, grace, and thriving creativity.
Stephanie embodies “Ancora imparo” - “Still, I am learning” - showing us that curiosity, humility, and creative expression are the antidotes to aging stereotypes. Her approach offers a powerful framework for anyone seeking to age authentically while maintaining sobriety and creative vitality.
We’ll explore how sobriety enhances creative aging, transforming cultural ageism through personal empowerment, and finding authentic voice beyond society’s expectations. Her philosophy that “the world owes me nothing because of my age, but I owe the world my gratitude and goodwill” offers a revolutionary approach to both aging and recovery.
Don’t miss this conversation about embracing our accumulated years as an invitation to our deepest, truest selves.

The goal of this workshop is to be audience-based and live, thanks to its interactive segment. I’m certain down the road there will be downloadable workshops, video series and more. Step by step as The Sober Creative grows!
