Is Drinking Quietly Sabotaging Your Potential?
Take This Free 5 Minute Drinking Assessment To Find Out
When reading the title, you felt any hesitation, I believe this is worth your time to explore.
You deserve to put your best work out there. And I’ll even add this and say, “ANY work out there.”
And whether you can see it or not, your drinking may be the exact thing that is keeping you from this potential.
The next level you so desperately crave is closer than you think.
My relationship with alcohol lasted 22 years. I was still able to function on the days after my drinking, however, my baseline was always operating on a level that kept me blocked, hidden and drained. I suffered from not one, but all three of these areas.
I was blocked from ideas flowing to me.
I was hidden from putting myself out there to be seen.
I was drained all the time.
It wasn’t until I stopped drinking 5 years ago, I started to notice these states start to shift.
Certain areas in my life I didn’t spend much time focusing on, areas related to: meditation, nutrition, exercise, rest.
Letting drinking go allowed the space and time to change my relationship with these specific areas:
4a morning rise (yes, I do get up that early now and it’s incredible)
Consistent gym routine (4 to 5 days a week)
Weight loss, strength gained
15,000 steps daily
365 consecutive days of meditation
Tracking and studying the types of food I eat, leading to more energy, more focus, and overall better mood
Going to sleep at the same time every day, along with systems in place to have not only the length of time sleeping, but the quality around it
When I stopped drinking, my focus became strengthening these practices, which naturally lead to the blocked, hidden, and drained areas being altered dramatically.
Ideas flow to me all the time now.
I’m not afraid to be seen, I want to put myself out there.
From draining to maintaining. Big difference.
I went from being a functioning alcoholic to a thriving sober creative.
🔒 BLOCKED
“Your Creative Vision Is Trapped in Potential”
You have brilliant ideas—probably dozens of them. But there’s a canyon between conception and creation that you can’t seem to cross.
The Pattern:
“‘I’ll start tomorrow’ has become your mantra. Tomorrow becomes next week. Next week becomes ‘when things calm down.’ You continue to drink to ease the frustrations of feeling ‘stuck.’ But things never calm down because you’re using the chaos as cover for the real issue: starting feels impossible.”
The Hidden Truth:
“That evening drink to ‘decompress from the frustration’? It’s not helping you process the block—it’s cementing it. Alcohol disrupts the exact prefrontal cortex function you need for initiative and follow-through.”
What This Costs You:
Watching others execute ideas you had first
Growing resentment at your “lack of discipline”
Financial impact of unrealized projects
The slow death of believing in your creative capacity
The Path Forward:
“When you remove what’s maintaining the block, your ideas finally find their way into the world.”
🪫 DRAINED
"Your Creative Energy Is Running on Empty"
You CAN create—you've proven it time and again. But each creative sprint leaves you depleted for days or weeks. You're not inconsistent. You're exhausted.
The Pattern:
"Creative burst → Complete exhaustion → 'Need a drink to unwind' → Days of recovery → Pressure builds → Forced to create again → Repeat"
The Hidden Truth:
"That glass of wine to 'recharge' after a project? That weekend of drinks to 'celebrate' your win? They're not restoring your energy—they're ensuring your next creative cycle starts from depletion. Your body is spending its recovery time processing alcohol instead of replenishing creative reserves."
What This Costs You:
Unpredictable income from inconsistent output
Reputation as "brilliant but unreliable"
Physical symptoms becoming your normal (fatigue, brain fog, anxiety)
Never knowing if you'll have energy when opportunities arise
Creating from desperation instead of inspiration
The Path Forward:
"When you stop draining your reserves, sustainable creativity becomes possible. Imagine creating from overflow instead of emergency."
🎭 HIDDEN
"Your Best Work Never Sees the Light”
You create brilliant work—in private. But when it comes to sharing, promoting, or monetizing, you disappear. Your talent is real. Your visibility is optional.
The Pattern:
"Create in isolation → Need drinks for networking events → Alcohol-fueled confidence → Say things you regret → Deeper shame → Hide even more → Repeat"
The Hidden Truth:
"Using alcohol for 'confidence' actually deepens your visibility wound. Every drink to 'be more social' creates more reasons to hide. The shame from alcohol-influenced interactions becomes 'proof' you shouldn't be seen."
What This Costs You:
Income left on the table from unshared work
Opportunities passing to less talented but more visible creators
Your audience never finding the work they need
Living split between who you are and who you show
The grief of unexpressed potential
The Path Forward:
"When you remove what's keeping you hidden, your work naturally finds its audience. True confidence comes from clarity, not courage in a glass."
